The Pefferlaw community in the Town of Georgina is buzzing about the newest restaurant in Town – Taps n’ Tracks. The new dining establishment adds to Pefferlaw’s growing main street that includes unique shops, essentials and other dining options. It is another great place to eat and socialize for residents and the many visitors coming to Georgina year-round.

In the heart of Georgina, Ontario, a remarkable craft brewery has taken root and flourished, symbolizing resilience, community spirit, and a passion for exceptional beer. Turkey Shoot Brewing Company, owned and operated by Kyle and Jaclyn, has quickly become a local favourite and a notable player in the craft beer scene. Caroline Mulroney, MPP for York-Simcoe, announced that the Town of Georgina will receive up to $150,000 in funding through the latest intake of the Rural Economic Development program (RED).

Stephen Faudemer, the owner of We Print T-shirts, took the reins of this Georgina-based printing business from friends and neighbours back in 2019. What began as a modest home-based venture has since blossomed into a thriving medium-sized operation, boasting an expanded product line, commercial space and increased revenue.

“Location, location, location,” they say. Choosing where to start or expand a business is an important decision. It is essential to thrive and provide a work/life balance, not only for owners but also for employees – one of the reasons Buchner Manufacturing, a successful business in the community of Pefferlaw, continues to choose the Town of Georgina after more than 40 years in business. 

A new industrial development on the east side of Woodbine Avenue, north of Ravenshoe Road, will bring more job opportunities to Georgina residents. Scott-Woods Transport Inc. is a heavy haul trucking company that employs more than 100 people. Currently located in Vaughan, the company has outgrown its existing location and sees this relocation to Georgina as an opportunity for expansion and growth.

Local businesses in the Town of Georgina are set to receive valuable assistance with the introduction of the Digital Main Street program, a collaborative effort between the Town of Georgina and the Town of East Gwillimbury.

Georgina’s partnership with the Town of East Gwillimbury and York University’s YSpace has been wildly successful, supporting many businesses in the initial stages of their entrepreneurship journey and those looking for assistance to expand or grow their business. The best part is that it has all been free to the participants thanks to financial support from the partnership and the Province’s Rural Economic Development grant program.

Since 2016, the Town has annually recognized businesses and families rooted in Georgina for generations through the Mayor and Council's Milestone Awards. This year, the spotlight is on businesses with more than two decades of operation. These businesses serve as dedicated ambassadors for Georgina, intricately woven into the community's fabric, fostering enduring connections and contributing to Georgina's reputation as a thriving business hub.
